Hepatitis-B (Engerix B/Twinrix)
Hepatitis B is a serious viral liver infection transmitted through blood and bodily fluids.
It can become chronic and lead to long-term liver damage, which is why vaccination is key for travelers.
Vaccine details
Who needs it
Travelers to areas with high Hep B rates—such as Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe—should get vaccinated, especially those who may receive medical care abroad or stay long term.
When to get it
The vaccine is given as a series of three doses over six months, so ideally start at least one to two months before travel. Accelerated schedules are available.
What to expect
You’ll receive the first dose in clinic, with follow-ups scheduled based on your travel date. Hepatitis B can also be administered in combination with Hepatitis A (TWINRIX).
